Super Saturday Semi And Grand Finals 19th June - Last Round U11s Friday 18th June

Great news! We’ve just finished a meeting with Netball Victoria and………we’re on for this weekend!! Hooray!!!!

Please take the time to thoroughly read the information below as it’s all poignant to our weekend being a safe and successful one for everybody. Please pass it onto all of your members with the utmost urgency and thank you for their patience (and yours) as well.

FRIDAY NIGHT – 11/U COMPETITION

Our final round of the 11/U competition will be going ahead tomorrow night (Fri 18^th) as planned. All players will receive a participation medal from the umpires at the end of their match.

SATURDAY FINALS

We will be playing both our Semi-Finals and our Grand Finals on the day this Saturday (19^th) and every team will get to play two games, regardless of the Semi-Final results.

• The Semi-Finals will be 2 x 9 minute quarters, with 1 minute at half time
• There will then be 10 minutes break for the control box staff to enter scores and produce new score sheets for the next game
• The Grand Finals will then take place with the same format (2 x 9 min quarters, 1 min at half time)
• The two teams who lose their semi-finals will then play off at the same time as the Grand Finals as well
• Please see the attached document to tell you what time your games are. Your semi final and Grand Final will be within the same timeslot (8:30am, 9:30am, 10:30am, 11:30am)
• I will update MyNetball as soon as possible, either tonight or very early tomorrow morning

Match Times

As with all of our Grand Finals, game times are slightly different to our usual weekly match times. We have done our very best to have teams as close as possible to their usual game times.

COVID SAFETY PROTOCOLS

The following guidelines are from the Government, Sport and Recreation Victoria, the Council and Netball Victoria, all our governing bodies and all of which must be adhered to for the safety of all of you.

• Teams must “Get in, and Get Out” before and after their games (two games on Saturday), not loitering around
• The number of people allowed to be at each game is limited to “the minimum number of people required to participate and facilitate the activity”. This means players, coaches, team managers, scorers, umpires, staff and volunteers.
• We have been told that parents/guardians are only permitted if they are “required to support a player’s participation”. We understand it’s a little vague but we just everyone to have a true understanding of what is actually required, that is, “want vs need”, and not bring anyone if not needed.
• NO spectators are allowed – this means extra people beyond “support personnel” if they are necessary. People such as grandparents, extended family, friendship groups etc. We again know it’s finals but this is a definite restriction. With both parents that are not essential and spectators, we advise that watching from outside the perimeter (fence/soccer oval) is permitted.
• Every single person must check in using the QR code if they are within our venue, no matter how old they are. This is a non-negotiable directive from the Government. I have attached the code for you to give to parents who made need to check in for their child from their cars. You do not need to check in if you are outside the fence line, in your car or drop off a player.
• Face masks must be carried by everyone who is 12 years or older but do not need to be worn when outside, unless social distancing cannot be maintained.
• We ask all participants to really limit any contact such as hugs, handshakes, high 5’s etc and there is to be no sharing of drink bottles, towels, phones, lip balms, etc etc etc.
• There will be COVID Safety Officers in attendance to help people with anything they need and ensure that people are using the QR codes too.

EXPOSURE SITES

People need to be aware of the exposure sites that around Melbourne and need to get tested and/or quarantine if they have been potentially exposed. Please take a look through the list: https://www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au/exposure-sites

CHANGEROOMS – important

As we are also under the governance of the Council, we have been told that no more than 10 people can be in our pavilion at any time and change rooms cannot be used. With staff already working in there, this means our change rooms will not be opened over the weekend and people will be directed to the other toilets near the athletics entrances. There are two separate ones they can use – we will put signs up too.

**** PLEASE NOTE *****

This great news is due to the fact that there is NO CAP on participants in outdoor metro community sport at this very moment. HOWEVER, Netball Victoria have flagged with us that there is a very slim chance that there may be once introduced tomorrow morning. If this is the case (fingers crossed), we will have to re-assess then. But, for the meantime, we have been advised to plan ahead as if this is what we are all doing. Remember, this is all in place to keep us all safe – which we all want for each other.

We want to thank you again for your flexibility, understanding and support through all of this and know that you all share the excitement of having everybody out on court again – that is really the main thing!! Just remember that we still expect a high standard of behaviour from everyone – we should all just be stoked to be out there again!
